Indian National Olympiad (INO) 2023 Date, Syllabus, Registration, Eligibility and Result

Every child is specialized in something or other. Someone is good in maths, someone is good in sports, someone in communication and etcetera, etcetera…

But how do we find out that we are the best? If someone is good at maths, then shouldn’t there be an exam to compete with others who are best in the same. An exam is unbiased as well as justified. Lucky for us, there is an exam called Indian National Olympiad by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).

Olympiad examinations, often known as Olympiads, allow students to compete against other students of a comparable educational level. Such tests encourage pupils to gain abilities in topics such as mathematics, physics, computer technology, and the English language. The Indian National Olympiad (INO) aims to bring together the world's most outstanding secondary and upper-secondary students in a friendly competition at the highest level. The Olympiads are more than just contests; they are gatherings of the world's greatest young minds, and many connections formed during the Olympiads create the seeds of eventual cooperation.

The Olympiads, like the Olympics in sports, are a celebration of the greatest in school-level academics. Where INO is hosted by HBCSE, VidyaHub is the guidance you must choose if you are looking to excel in it. What is VidyaHub you ask? Nothing but the best coaching institute in Pashchim Vihar, Delhi. No tutor, no classes, no notes can even come close to what VidyaHub is promising you to achieve. If a student is eligible, it is highly recommended to engage in this programme immediately with the help of the best coaching centre, VidyaHub. However, if a student is not eligible, it is advisable to utilise the available materials as a learning opportunity for self.

The Indian National Olympiad is a competition for students in:

  • Physics - Physics is the natural science that investigates matter, its basic elements, its mobility and behaviour in space and time, as well as the associated phenomena of energy and force. Physics is one of the most fundamental scientific fields, with the primary purpose of understanding how the universe functions.
  • Chemistry - Chemistry is the scientific study of matter's characteristics and behaviour. It is a natural science that studies the constituents that makeup matter, as well as the compounds made of atoms, molecules, and ions: their composition, structure, characteristics, behaviour, and the changes that occur when they mix with other things.
  • Biology - Biology is the scientific study of living things. It is a broad-ranging natural science with some unifying elements that bind it together as a single, cohesive topic.
  • Astronomy - Astronomy is the scientific study of celestial objects and events. It explains their genesis and development using mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
  • Mathematics - Mathematics is a body of knowledge that encompasses subjects such as numbers, formulae, associated structures, forms and the places in which they exist, and quantities and their variations.
  • Junior Science – Junior Science is a basic systematic effort that creates and organises information about the world in the form of testable explanations and predictions.

Students who are presently enrolled in school may apply online for these Olympiads. All students interested in learning more about the Indian National Olympiad (INO) 2022 may visit their official website: Home - Olympiads (tifr.res.in). The test is given at 18 places throughout India in areas such as physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and junior science. The MTA will organise the first stage while the HBCSE will organise the final stage.

To take the INO, a student must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

  • ORIGIN: The student must be of Indian origin.
  • PRE-EXAMS: The applicant who wishes to apply for the INO must have taken either of the NSEA, NSEP, NSEB, or NSEC examinations.
  • MINIMUM SCORE: Students who achieve a score equal to or higher than the Minimum Admissible Score (MAS) are eligible for INO. The Minimum Admissible Score for a specific topic will be 50% of the average of the subject's total 10 scores.
  • MERIT INDEX: Students who scored higher than the merit index will be immediately qualified for INO in each subject. In a topic, the merit index is defined as 80% of the average of the top ten scores in that subject, rounded down to the closest lower and integer.
  • NATIONAL EXAM: Each state or union territory must pick at least one student.
  • COMPETITION: According to HBCSE guidelines, 300 candidates should be chosen for the INO stage 2 test. In the event that the norms are not satisfied, additional students will be chosen on the basis of merit, providing they scored higher than the Minimum Admissible Score until the goal number of 300 students is attained.

INO follows a system of examination. This system can be called as the pattern of exam and it must be carefully read, remembered and applied if a candidate wants to take the INO exam. The syllabus of the INO exam is based on CBSE secondary level.

The aspirant may register for the Indian National Olympiad online. Students who have passed the National Standard Examination may take the Indian National Olympiad Test.

The results of the Indian national Olympiad will be revealed when the Olympiad has been completed by the organising authorities. The results of the Indian National Science Olympiad will be available on the official website.
